Vernay is the most venerated name in Condrieu thanks to the efforts of Christine Vernay's father, Georges, who was largely responsible for bringing the appellation back from near extinction in the 1970s with his re-plantings of terraced vineyards and his care for the old vines of the Coteau de Vernon.Today, Christine Vernay continues as a consistently reliable producer of vibrant, full-flavored Condrieus that are structured to age.There is also a VdP bottling of viognier that is wonderfully fresh and complex, with character far beyond its price category.The red wines here can be on the oaky side.
