Bruno and Danilo Nada describe 2016 as an ideal vintage for Nebbiolo. "It is hard to say what normal is these days," Bruno Nada told me. "But in 37 harvests I have never seen a year with no heat spikes, rain at just the right moments and low humidity." The Nebbiolo harvest wrapped up on October 22, which is late by present day standards. Harvest lasted a total of 45 days as compared to 30, which is more typical. The 2016s were fermented in steel for 3-4 weeks, with manual punchdowns, and then moved into cask between December and January, where they spent about two years. As for the wines, they are truly magnificent and well worth checking out.

Bruno and Danilo Nada describe 2015 as a warm vintage, but with periodic episodes of rain and no real stress on the vines. The Montaribaldi was picked in September, but all the other Nebbiolos came in during October. The bottled 2015s are every bit as compelling as I hoped they would be, while the 2016s, which I tasted from barrel are quite promising. The Manzola and Montaribaldi are aged entirely in cask, while the flagship Rombone sees one year in barrique and a second in cask. Seifile, Nada's old-vine Barbera/Nebbiolo wine, is aged as a blend for 18 months in French oak.
