Although Herbert Weis harvested late in 2010 in order to allow the natural acidities in the grapes to fall before crush, it was—with the exception of the two Grosses Gewachs—not a vintage for dry rieslings here. As so often before, the Spatlese Alte Reben (these are 100-year-old ungrafted vines) was my favorite wine in terms of value for money—and one that will certainly age admirably. Further, his Trockenbeerenauslese is a landmark and one of the finest wines of the vintage on the Ruwer.
