Winemaker Sabine Mollard is one of the unsung heroes in Chassagne-Montrachet. She has overseen wonderful wines at Domaine Marc Morey in recent years. “We started the picking on 9 September and then over the next six days,” she explained. “The alcohol levels came in between 13.8° and 14.2° whilst acidity levels are 3.5-4.5g/l. The yields were low - around 35% of what they normally harvest. Some of the wines have been bottled already and the rest will be in January and February. There is no Puligny or Rully this year as contracts came to an end.” Sabine Mollard is a very fine winemaker and she always makes the most of her holdings. Her 2019s had been partially bottled. Keep a look out for an excellent Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers and Virondots, the latter extremely consistent in recent years and a bit of a “hidden secret” - so just keep it between us.
