Sabine Mollard oversees a “tidy” portfolio from her winery in Chassagne. “It was difficult in early April,” she explains. “I could never take a day off. The summer was cooler than usual with rain. We started picking around 20 September with around 23hL/ha, having lost around 60% of the normal volume, but it depended on the climats. I lost 80% in Virondot, 42 barrels down to 10 in 2021. Everything is in tank, and it will be bottled in February. I find the 2021s are improving in barrel, and I might bottle a bit later.” Mollard lost a couple of cuvées, but the rest of the portfolio is promising, particularly her excellent Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot and Les Vergers.
