Sabine Mollard, winemaker at Domaine Marc Morey et Fils in Chassagne-Montrachet, was on hand to guide me through their 2018s. I have been visiting this estate for a number of years and their wines have got better and better in recent years. She told me that she commenced the picking on 3 September and harvested over six days. Oak is used prudently at this address and in 2018 it allows their terroirs to shine through, in particular their Chassagne-Montrachet Virondot. Whilst not the most familiar of Premier Crus, it is one of their strongest cards in their pack and it ranks among the best Chassagnes that I tasted this vintage.
