Christian Amiot was in the hospital recovering from shoulder surgery in early November, so I tasted this estate's 2006s and 2005s with his wife Elisabeth. This was the first visit of my annual tour, and my first look at the 2006s. Elisabeth was the first but hardly the last to note the "pleasurable, easy-drinking side" of 2006, which she described as riper than the family's 2004s. Less pigeage was done in 2006 than in 2005, and the wines were only modestly chaptalized, to about 12.5% to 13%. In comparison, the 2005s tend to be around 13% alcohol, without chaptalization. (Village Wine Imports, New York, NY) Also recommended: Chambolle-Musigny (86).
