Cordero di Montezemolo's 2014 Barolos are dark, powerful wines endowed with considerable depth. Enrico Cordero di Montezemolo told me he did some bleeding of the musts and a délestage during extraction that served as a sort of soft pressing to get a little more color and structure out of the juice. Humidity and disease pressure were issues, as they were everywhere, but these vineyards were spared by hail. The Monfalleto is aged in a combination of casks and smaller barrels, while the Gattera and Enrico VI see 6-7 months in barrique and 12-14 months in cask.
