Cris Cherry is one of many winemakers in the region who makes no secret that he's trying to get his wines "more into an elegant and ageworthy zone" and is not very interested in making "massive wines that lead with fruit and then don't really go anywhere else, even if you age them." He's also wary of too much new oak, which he thinks "can work well with ripe, sweet fruit but doesn't play nice if you're trying to get complexity."
