These are the most impressive wines I have tasted from Peter Stolpman. Over the years, Stolpman and his family have invested incessantly in their Ballard Canyon ranch, so their success is very much earned and deserved. Within the typical range of wines, my favorite bottling remains the Estate, which I feel best encapsulates both the personality of this site and Ballard Canyon more broadly. This year, I was especially struck by the August James Stolpman Syrah, which is made from plant material sourced from one of the top domaines in Cornas, and the new Mourvèdre-based Sun & Earth.
