Stolpman is one of the reference-point estates in Ballard Canyon. The wines are deep, savory and powerful. I don't always feel like all the main Syrahs are markedly different from each other, but in recent years Stolpman has introduced a series of more adventurous wines like the So Fresh and Combe lines that explore different aspects of this site. My favorite wine in the range is the Estate Syrah, which offers tons of character at a very reasonable price.
