Staglin showed a gorgeous set of wines this year. Naturally, the reds get most of the attention, but I would be remiss if I did not spend a minute on the 2023 Chardonnay, which is exceptional and worth seeking out. The 2022s turned out well. Winemaker Fredrik Johansson fermented at cooler peak temperatures and gave the wines less time in wood than in most years. He also used a bit less new oak and bottled the wines at 22 months (bigger vintages often spent more time in wood here), all with the goal of preserving as much balance as possible.
