As always, I tasted a wide range of wines with Fred Scherrer on my most recent visit to the winery. I find the Pinots and Cabernets the most consistently compelling wines in the lineup. Scherrer releases his wines a bit later than most of his colleagues, so the wines have a bit of bottle age when they arrive in the market. Scherrer's minimalist approach results in wines that are transparent, unadorned and stripped down to their purest essence. Also tasted: 2015 Grenache Kick Ranch, 2014 Syrah Sasha.
