After having spent the better part of a decade in the narrow cellars of the Aschrott estate he purchased in 1996, Gunter Kunstler has now moved into more spacious quarters that were once occupied by the Hochheim sparkling wine company. Although he will certainly be able to work more efficiently there, Mother Nature did not give him the raw material that he needed in 2006 to test his new installation. First reports on the 2007 vintage, however, have been very positive and should provide him with the opportunity to prove his mettle. (Rudi Wiest/Cellars International, Carlsbad, CA) Also recommended: 2006 Hochheimer Stielweg Riesling Trocken Alte Reben (85), 2006 Hochheimer Holle Riesling Kabinett Trocken (85), 2006 Hochheimer Domdechaney Riesling Trocken Erstes Gewachs (85), 2005 Hochheimer Reichestal Spatburgunder Trocken "R" (88).
