Sisters Vittoria and Marta Alessandria are now firmly in charge at their family's winery. Alessandria is among the Piedmont estates that is very much in evolution. In recent years, fermentations have gotten longer, the influence of new oak has decreased and the wines show greater freshness than in the past. The San Giovanni is technically the more important wine and sees more new oak, but in 2018 I prefer the straight Barolo. I expect to see great things here in the future.
