Ferruccio Grimaldi's Barolos seem to get better with each passing vintage. The new oak is better balanced and overall, the Barolos have much more harmony and finesse than they did at the outset. Grimaldi ages his straight Barolo in a combination of cask and barrique, while the single vineyard wines are aged exclusively in French oak barrels. If I had to name one grower who has the potential to achieve superstar status in the next decade, it might very well be Ferruccio Grimaldi.
