This substantial estate, now run by Pierre's sons Jean-Pierre and Thierry, was recently expanded with the purchase of seven hectares of vines that Jean-Pierre had previously worked en metayage. The estate's highly promising '98s, particularly their stunning new Cuvee de Mon Aieul, demonstrate the brothers' seriousness of purpose. Until now, the wines have been fermented in stainless steel, says Thierry, with a system in place to regulate temperature since 1996. The current plan is to do part of the fermentation in new oak next year; there will also be some experimentation with barriques.
