Bernard Mollard remarked that 2001 is a "millesime de plaisir with very forward, upfront fruit and flavors. However, it will age better than people think as there is good underlying acidity despite the ripeness. Yields were about the same as in 2000 but we had slightly higher sugars because I decided to wait an extra week before beginning the harvest." The 2002s were ripe and easy to vinify, said Bernard Mollard, and the wines benefitted from good, long fermentations.
