The 2015 Cabernets are the most accessible young Cabernets I have ever tasted at Diamond Creek. To be sure, these wines have been far more approachable young than the epic wines of the 1970s that first built the estate's reputation for some time. Even so, I was not really prepared to see the 2015s be so giving at this stage. Poor weather during sorting reduced yields by around 20%. That, along with warm, dry weather that required considerable sorting of shriveled fruit produced a set of rich, potent wines that are just a bit less delineated and site specific than they are in most years.
