Wrath has been producing top-notch, finely etched wines since the Thomas family purchased San Saba Vineyards in 2007, and recent vintages have witnessed an increasing upward climb in quality. Winemaker Sabrine Rodems, a California native who earned her Masters in Viticulture & Enology at UC Davis, works with fruit from the San Saba estate vineyard as well as a handful of the Santa Lucia Highlands’ best sites and crafts wines that show structure and energy. The Pinots can be on the shy side early on, regardless of vintage. The 2018s here are as fine a group of releases as I have yet tried from Wrath, but please give them a little patience, or at the very least some time in a decanter.
