Starting in 1994, Adam Lee began gaining access to fruit from some of California’s most esteemed Pinot Noir vineyards, and Siduri (now owned by Jackson Family Estates) continues to work with most of those sources, including what many consider to be the very best sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The 2018s here are loaded with fruit and eminently approachable, but they also exhibit the hallmark freshness of the vintage, all of which will make the wines approachable now or later – your call.

These new releases from Siduri are absolutely gorgeous. As has been the case here for the last few years, the style has shifted towards greater freshness and energy, but there is still plenty of the forward fruit that has won these wines so many fans. Matt Revelette is the new winemaker here. His resume includes stints at Williams-Selyem, Kosta Browne and Mending Wall. It will be interesting to see where these Pinots go in the coming years, but the direction seems pretty clear.
