While acid levels here were the lowest of the '90s and the steepest vineyards suffered some stress during the August-September heat wave, purity of fruit from low yields and careful selection, supported by generally long lees contact in the cellar, made for another excellent collection. The Kabinett wines are all legally Spatlese, with similar "declassification" up the line. (Terry Theise)
