Michael Moosbrugger and Willi Br�ndlmayer are still in the midst of an ambitious project to regenerate this estate. They have done a selection from the old gr�ner veltliner vines in the Ried Renner and are using that material to plant new rows between the old ones, so as to achieve high density without loss of old plants. Nineteen ninety-eight was clearly a difficult vintage at Gobelsburg. Don't hesitate to sample the best of these, but expect some highly unusual wines in which botrytis and dehydration play a defining role.
