Purchased in the 1960s, the estate is owned and run today by Serena Palazzolo and her sons. Serena Palazzolo took over from her father in the early nineties when she returned home after college. She has exacting standards and makes just a small amount of wine. In 2018, a difficult vintage, Ronco del Gnemiz decided against bottling their usual whites, choosing not to bottle one of the Friulanos and one of the Sauvignons. Ronco del Gnemiz produces wines from only organically-farmed, estate-grown grapes from roughly 16.5 hectares of vineyards (the estate is roughly 30 hectares large) located all around the winery. No more than 35,000 bottles are produced a year. Readers should note that this is one of the very few estates in Italy that makes a Chardonnay actually worth drinking.
