Raen is a new project headed by Carlo and Dante Mondavi, both of whom have grown up in the family business alongside their father, Tim Mondavi, pretty much since the time they were kids. Tim was of course the winemaker at Robert Mondavi Winery and Opus One for many years and is now writing the next chapter of his career at Continuum. Interestingly, Carlo and Dante have chosen the Sonoma Coast to write theirs. The Raen portfolio is composed of three Pinots, all made in the distinctly savory, mineral-driven style that is so typical of the coast. Needless to say, it will be very interesting to see how things develop. These first releases mark an impressive debut.
