Readers will find a lot to admire in this set of 2023s from the Peay family. Brisk Chardonnays and delineated Pinots carry all the energy and nuance of this cold, late-ripening year. The Pinots in particular strike me as a bit lighter in body texturally than in most years, as one might reasonably expect in colder vintage. The 2022 Syrahs are also quite attractive, although in this vintage they are a bit less savory than usual, once again in keeping with the style of the year. As always, the Peay estate wines are blends meant to express different facets of the property as opposed to single-block or single-vineyard wines, as readers will see in perusing the accompanying tasting notes.
