I wrote last year that the 2009s were the finest wines I have tasted from this estate since the late '90s. While the entry-level offerings here clearly show how difficult 2010 was on the Ruwer, in particular for dry rieslings, the kabinett, spatlese, auslese and upwards were exemplary and rate among the best produced in Germany in the vintage. Happily, Dr. Carl von Schubert and his winemaker Stefan Kraml have put this estate back on the right track without sacrificing its uniquely yeasty, reductive style so that this inimitable label is again a sure bet for those seeking individual wines of true character. Also recommended: 2010 Maximin Grunhaus Abtsberg Riesling Trocken Alte Reben (85), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Riesling Feinherb (85), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett Feinherb (86), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Superior (89), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Bruderberg Riesling (86), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Bruderberg Riesling Spatlese (88), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett #5 (90+?), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Riesling Spatlese Alte Reben (90), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese #72 (91), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese #24 (92), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese #37 (93), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Beerenauslese (95), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (98), 2010 Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Riesling Eiswein (93).Other wines tasted: 2010 Maximin Grunhaus Riesling Trocken, 2010 Maximin Grunhaus Herrenberg Riesling Trocken, 2010 Maximin Grunhaus Abtsberg Riesling Trocken, 2010 Maximin Grunhaus Herrenberg Riesling Trocken Alte Reben.
