After a rather disappointing effort in 2004, Stefan Rumpf and his son Johannes are slowly putting this estate back on track. Even in the difficult 2006 vintage they have bottled a selection of wines that puts them in the Nahe's first division. While struggling to compete against the region's four top estates, they nonetheless produce authentic wines that are both rich and refreshing, with a salty mineral character that few others on the lower stretches of the Nahe are able to achieve. The promising 2007 vintage should provide the pair a chance to show their true mettle.
