This estate at the lower end of the Nahe, near where it empties into the Rhine, has been going through a very gentle transition over the past few years as father Stefan has gradually passed the baton to his son Georg. As the latrer slowly comes into his own, the Rieslings have not only put on a touch of flesh but have also become more precise in their expression. They had always been well structured, but they seldom showed the complexity that now occasionally raises its head. Two thousand eleven remains the benchmark here, but 2013 is in some cases equally good. Given the fact that until the late '90s this estate essentially made only dry wine, the Gold Capsule Auslese is particularly impressive.
