The Freie Weingartner Wachau celebrated the opening of their new Domane Wachau cellar this year. "We now have room for 70 stainless steel tanks in sizes varying from 3,000 to 25,000 liters," said managing director Roman Horvath of the ambitious project. With the capacity to vinify small quantities from the best plots in vineyards like Achleiten, Loibenberg and Kellerberg separately, this topnotch co-operative should achieve even higher levels of quality. By far the largest wine producer in the Wachau, the Freie Weingartner Wachau hopes that with this sizable investment they will be able to enter the league of the very best producers of Austria's most elite wine-producing region.
