According to Philippe Lécheneaut, 2011 was a rare vintage in which phenolic ripeness occured before the sugars were fully developed. All of the wines were lightly chaptalized, which is quite common in this vintage. The wines spent about three weeks on the skins. Lecheneaut’s 2011s are just as impressive from bottle as they were from barrel, with the exception of the Damodes, which did not show well in this tasting.
