It was a last-minute visit to Domaine Jean-Luc and Eric Burguet. I came to this Gevrey producer for several years but happenstance meant that I had not returned for three years. It was a pleasure to come back to this address because the brothers are overseeing some very refined Pinot Noirs, perhaps even more so than when I was last here. They told me that they started the harvest on 10 September and harvested until 17 September, everything is de-stemmed as usual. Though their single Grand Cru in Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze might be the most eye-catching cru, I would suggest that the most enticing wines are their two Gevrey-Chambertin cuvées: Symphonie and Mes Favourites. Not only do they taste absolutely delicious and far above their station, they represent great quality.
