Ghislaine Barthod's 2011s are very pretty. All of the wines show clear signatures of place and plenty of personality. Wines with bracketed scores were tasted in November 2012, while finished wines with final ratings were tasted in November 2013.

The 2011s were very precise and vibrant wines from the outset, accurate to their terroirs, noted Ghislaine Barthod in November. She began harvesting on September 2, with grape sugars ranging from 11.7% to 12.5%, and chaptalized lightly "just to maintain the vinification." She went on: "The wines are naturally suave and the tannins are of good quality; I didn't want to knock them off balance with too much chaptalization or too much extraction." Barthod's wines from her lower-altitude vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny can get very ripe in warmer vintages, but there's no sign of surmaturite in 2011--on the contrary: she describes them as "invigorating." The wines were racked in August and returned to barrel with their fine lees.
