Ryan Deovlet's 2022s are very typical of the year. The Chardonnays are deep, layered and highly expressive of site, whereas the Pinots show how complex and challenging the vintage was for the variety. The Chardonnays spent 12 months in 300-liter barrels, followed by four months in tank. Aging for the Pinots was 12-16 months in neutral oak, with some cask and sandstone amphora thrown into the mix. As always, Deovlet showed the appellation Chardonnay and Pinot Noir after the vineyard designates, which only served to highlight how overachieving the appellation wines are.
