According to Maurice Barthelme, "the 2004 vintage is more classic for the dry wines, while 2005 is great for the botrytis wines." The high acidity in 2004 supports the wines' moderate sweetness, he added. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the estate's gewurztraminers in 2004; the conditions of the year were not the easiest for this variety. But the Barthelme brothers (Maurice has responsibility for the vines while Jacky is in charge of winemaking) did well across the board.
