Brothers Eric and Jean-Luc Burguet continue to shape the future as they take over from their now retired father, Alain. The Burguets recently purchased 2.63 hectares of vineyards from their uncle, Gilles Burguet, that is mostly Bourgogne and Gevrey villages, but includes a tiny parcel in the prized Lavaux St. Jacques. As was the case throughout the region, 2013 presented a number of challenges, not the least of which was rain in June that made it very hard to get into the vineyards. The 2013s were brought in starting October 9, the latest harvest ever here, under cold conditions with frost in the morning. Yields were down 30% across the board. All of the wines were lightly chaptalized.
