This is a fabulous set of wines from proprietor Larry Turley and winemaker Tegan Passalacqua. The 2019s are fabulous across the board. I tasted forty two 2019s for this report, all of which I would be thrilled to drink any day of the week. Passalacqua describes 2019 as an even year, with no heat stress or other shocks. More than anything else, what comes through in these wines is a crystal-clear picture of each and every vineyard. Readers who want to explore the essence of terroir in California through old-vine heritage sites, many of them own-rooted and dry-farmed, will find so much to like. The biggest problem will be choosing among these new releases. Best of all, these wines offer superb value, such a rarity these days. That is especially true of the Juvenile or Old Vines Zinfandels, both of which will make readers on a budget extremely happy.
