2015 Akasha

Always among the boldest full-throttle wines produced in the region, Scott Hawley’s 2015s show his signature fruit-driven, flamboyant, deeply concentrated style. But I also found the wines to have a greater degree of balance and, I daresay, elegance, than I can recall from any others than in the past. Hawley, who is also the longtime winemaker for Law Estate, and his wife, Viquel, have just wrapped up construction of a new winery at the front of their Peachy Canyon Road property, which is going to dramatically increase their visibility in the region and will also, no doubt, help to increase demand for their wines, which are already hard enough to get. Such is the price of success.
