These are, without question, the most impressive wines I have tasted from Fogarty. Longtime winemaker Nathan Kandler and proprietor Tommy Fogarty hit it out of the park. The Chardonnays are deep, tense and loaded with energy. Pretty much the same is true of the Pinot Noirs, which offer unreal depth, complexity and dynamic energy to match. Winemaking is minimalist. Spontaneous fermentations, modest use of new oak and some stem influence in the Pinots are the norm. Aging in wood is around 16 months, on the long side for California and ideal for these wines. Readers should do whatever they can to taste these wines.
