In a vintage that brought few ausleses and fewer still that are worth their price, Thomas Haag made five-and they are all first class. His kabinetts and spatleses, though, were no less fascinating; and although I am still not a great fan of his dry wines, they were noticeably better than those he bottled last year. This was certainly one of the best selections of wines on the Mosel this year. If you haven't heard of Lieser yet, take a look at the map.
