Sartarelli offers a range of Verdicchio that satisfies from the the most basic to the most cerebral of desires. The hilly terrain of the Jesi growing zone possesses diverse terroirs. Undulating slopes cascade off into the horizon, with a mix of exposures, elevations and soil types. The height difference within the Sartarelli vineyards is just between 210 to 350 meters, but presents vast variations in temperature, humidity and sunlight exposure. The Sartarelli family has historically pioneered the concept of cru bottlings in the region, and they continue to better define their holdings to this day. Tommaso Sartarelli, the family's oenologist, uses only stainless steel to mature all the Verdicchio throughout the portfolio to communicate purity of fruit and vintage character into each bottle. Outside the usual suspects, the Verdicchio Classico, the old-vine Tralivio and the elegant Balciana, Sartarelli has now added the Millette, sourced from an east-to-southeast-facing vineyard planted in 2004 at 210 meters of elevation on 40% clay, 30% silt and 20% sand soils. It makes for a beautiful transition between the Tralivio and Balciana, showcasing a mix of elegance, energy and salty mineral character.
