Shirley Roy was in good spirits when I saw her last November, despite having lost her home to the October fires. The vineyard appears to have been largely spared. I suppose that is at least some small consolation. As for the wines, they are as dramatic and bold as they have always been under Philippe Melka's tenure. I especially like the 2016s for the way they balance richness with nuance.
