The 2015 growing season featured a “superhot” June, said Paul Golitzin, but the average daytime high temperature during the last month of ripening was only about 75 degrees. Quilceda Creek harvested from mid-September through the end of October. I was particularly impressed by the energy of these superb ‘15s, and Golitzin noted that Quilceda Creek is not leave more foliage on the vines to protect the fruit from the worst heat and sun. Incidentally, Golitzin describes his ‘16s as very bright and pure. He noted that overcropping was a widespread problem in Washington in 2016 but assured me that "we hit our targets."
