Just over 50% of the fruit used for Quilceda Creek's 2012 flagship Cabernet Sauvignon came from a Wallula vineyard planted in 1997, according to Paul Golitzin. Freeze and bud damage to their Champoux vineyard in 2010 and 2011 required the Golitzins to supplement this fruit with another source, but the Wallula percentage will go down as Champoux recovers. Quilceda Creek's large tank room, finished in 2011, now gives them ultimate flexibility to harvest and vinify as they have 70 two- and five-ton tanks that are completely movable.
