No other producer in the Rheingau experienced such a meteoric rise to fame in the '90s as Peter Jakob Kuhn.In no time at all he rose from being an unknown into the elite group of the finest producers in the region, and it seems that wind and weather have little effect on the quality of the wines made here, which keep getting better with each vintage.Certainly 2004 did not bring the bevy of auslese, beerenauslese and trockenbeerenauslese bottlings that Kuhn produced last year, but then those were the finest wines in that style that he has ever bottled.Still, Kuhn was one of the few producers in the Rheingau who managed to make a good beerenauslese in 2004.(Petit Pois Corp., Moorestown, NJ; Dee Vine Wines, San Francisco, CA) Also recommended: 2004 Riesling Quarzit Trocken ii (86), 2004 Riesling Classic (87).
