The 2019 Syrahs are the highlights in this range from Pax Mahle. The North Coast bottling is a terrific introduction to the range, while the vineyard designates naturally take site expression to another level. The Majik Syrah in particular is off the charts. There will be a Sonoma Hillsides Syrah in 2019, but it has not been released, and I have not tasted it yet. As always, the wines are made in a style that emphasizes freshness, with natural fermentations, a good bit of whole cluster influence and aging in neutral oak and/or concrete. These remain some of the most distinctive wines in Sonoma.
