One of Basilicata’s oldest and best-known wine estates, it owns 25 hectares, all of which are organically farmed; in fact, the estate now produces one officially labeled bio wine (the Aglianico del Vulture Giuv). The winery building is especially beautiful (it was designed to look like the spread-out wings of a vulture) and the vineyards are among some of the Vulture’s best; the wines, too, especially the Aglianico del Vulture Don Anselmo, are some of the finest in the region. Tough economic times led to the sale of the property to the famous Veneto estate Tommasi in 2016; Vito Paternoster continues to work at the winery.
