These 2010s from proprietor Giorgio Conterno are solid, but perhaps not as fine as they could be. My sense is that the Conterno wines lack a bit of direction. At times, these Barolos have been more finessed, but these 2010s suggest a much more extracted approach. Of course, some of that might be the vintage. Still, it would be great to see this small, family run estate hit a more consistent level of excellence.

Giorgio Conterno's 2010 Barolos were all in barrel at the time of my tastings, but they all showed tremendous promise. Over the last few years, the Barolos at this small, family-run property have been quite striking.
