It’s always a pleasure to sit down with Joel Peterson. I can’t think of too many producers who have his experience with vintages and vineyards. “We had quite a bit of frost, so crop levels are low,” Peterson explained. I found the wines quite good, especially with regard to site expression, which is one of the main things I look for in vineyard designate wines. That said, the 2022s are pretty tight. “We spent a lot of time fighting volatile acidity, so sulfur levels are a touch high at this stage on some of the wines,” Peterson added.
