Old-timer Ed Kurtzman (August West, Sandler, Freeman and stints at Testarossa, Bernardus and Chalone) oversees winemaking here and the wines reflect the style that he has honed over the decades: abundant upfront fruit and gentle tannic structure, with the depth, freshness and balance to age. There'e no set recipe for the use of new oak here, as the wines range from as low as 15% new wood to as high as 67% depending on individual circumstances, which is in line with Kurtzman's approach to winemaking with all his projects.
